Mom.

Feel all your feels. My Mom gave me the best advice, always (though she would disagree).

Last month, I channeled all my feels (good, bad and ugly) into my debut mural! A piece of art at this scale (and VERY public) has been on my list for a while now, and I am so, so proud of this.

“Mom” is located in Black Cat Alley, on Milwaukee’s East Side. This location holds such a special place in my heart and I couldn’t be more thrilled with this opportunity to leave my (very colorful) mark among the other beautiful pieces lining the street.

This polar bear is my new north, my light, my intuition, and my trust to let nature prevail, It’s a quiet tribute to my own mother's spirit, ever-present and guiding, and also a reflection of my journey through motherhood with my son. The bear carries both memory and momentum—where we come from and where we're going.

There is a whole boatload of thanks to give for this project -

My Mom. For everything, always.

My husband, for ALWAYS encouraging these sorts of things, and being my rock and holding down the fort. Also, for the amazing photos (@charlie_james_photo)

My kiddo, for the endless inspiration and boundless energy. When you tell people your Mama is an illustrator I just light up inside.

My Dad, for ALWAYS encouraging creativity and art, and being so incredibly supportive forever but especially since we lost my Mom. Thank you for continuing to be a channel for her to come through.

My brothers, for the yummiest of treats and the visits (and not being the least bit angry when I put both of you to work!). For being here for me just like Mom said you would.

My second painter and right-hand woman Eliza, she is amazing and makes the most mundane of projects fun and the most fun of projects run so incredibly smooth. For accepting me and all of my quirks to the fullest, and also always encouraging me to do these things bigger and better!

Black Cat Alley and all those involved, I am SO HAPPY to be a part of the cool kids club. You all are so inviting and encouraging and just a breath of fresh air to love this home as much as I do, and to want to fill it with as much color and joy as possible. Let’s keep creating!
